The major benefit of home care is that your loved one remains independent and gets all the necessary medical care at home. There is no better place than home. It is where an individual can thrive, be with family- which is of great importance during the terminal stages of life. The other major advantage of home health care is that it delays institutionalization which tends to illicit despair and loss of hope to the elderly. While home health is not the same thing as a hospital, there is a lot of evidence that home health care boosts morale, improves depression and promotes well being. There is no doubt that home health is a lot safer than many nursing homes and even some hospitals. Further, the chances of acquiring an infection are much greater in a nursing home and a hospital. This risk is negligible at home. All individuals have maximal freedom at home. There are no regulations on when and what one can do. Home care is individualized and personalized to meet the specific needs of each individual.
